Doctorate in Pharmacology serving at DTRC, ICMR-NIN for over 34 yrs. in various capacities. Developed major areas of research: i. Preclinical safety / efficacy evaluation of pharmaceuticals, Bio-Pharmaceuticals, ii. Pharmacovigilance, iii. Pollutants Nutrition interaction.
Established State-of-Art facility at Centre for Advanced Research for Preclinical Toxicology (established in 1999 by ICMR at NIN, Hyderabad). Only centre in the country has the credit for first time to evaluate preclinical safety of innovative, indigenously developed Recombinants, r-DNA anti rabies,
Human Papilloma Vaccine (HPV), therapies (Human Adult Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCS) and GMOs Etc., in absence of regulatory guidelines. It is a successful self-sustained model screened over 45 different products of which 20 translated in clinical use under Public-Public, Public-Private Partnership Collaborative program.
The unique studies on documenting consumption profile of medicines and developed intervention program through education film to promote concepts of Rational Use of Medicine is one of the achievement. Architect to establish first ICMR-National Institute of Nutrition National Coordination Center, Pharmaco- vigilance Program India (ICMR-NIN & NCC-PvPI) to monitor Nutraceuticals /Functional Foods. Studies on Pollution Nutrition Interaction conducted in the current context of global warming assumes an emerging research area. Apart from many national and international collaborations an educations film is made as a part of social awareness campaign.
Credit of completion of International projects (IAEA, WHO, World Bank, Indo-US) and national (DBT, CSIR, ICMR, ICAR, DST, CCRAS, MoH&FW many Private Agencies). Nominated by Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF &CC), India to participate in the OECD meetings on “Biosafety And Novel Food/Feed Safety”. Counselor – IUPHAR Pharmacology of Natural Products Section (PNPS) & Serving as Expert Member in various organisation viz., CDCSCO, FSSAI, DCGI, AYUSH, DBT, DST MoEF, MoHFW.
Norman Borlaug Fellow of National Academy of Medical Sciences (FNAMS), Norman Borlaug, Telangana Academy of Sciences, Andhra Pradesh Academy of Sciences (FAPASC) Indian Pharmacological Society. He is GLP Trainer for South East Asian Countries (WHO-TDR). Served National President- Indian Pharmacological Society (2014-219). National –General Secretary, Nutrition Society of India (2016-20).
